Holy cats, has it really been that long?

So, it's been a minute, eh?  Though real estate itself has steamed long for the past couple of years, it appears life got in the way and my personal website took a back seat. A dear friend brought this to my attention (thank you Kathy) and I'm here to check in.  Where to start?  We've had the Derecho that screwed sh*t up, am I right?  Still picking up sticks out of my yard and haven't gotten a single stump ground out yet.  WHAT A MESS.  Then Covid hit.  Then Covid 2.0.  Then Covid 3.0 Delta version.   The housing market EXPLODED and it's been like the Wild Wild West out here in the land of real estate.  All the rules went out the window.  Appraisals?  Meh. Who needs em.  Inspections.  Are you freaking kidding me? Don't even try to write those into an offer.  15 minute response times on offers.  Back up offers. Back up offers to back up offers.  Buyers paying THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS above asking price.  Forget buyer to seller love letters, those have been deemed vewwy vewwy bad and the argument has been made that they skate the line of violating fair housing rules.  I don't disagree, by the way.  If you wanted a house this year you needed to be fast, be willing to overpay, concede on a lot of your wish list items, and oh, I don't know.....throw in your first born for good measure.  It's been nuts.  That being said, I have helped many people find their dream homes despite all that and I've only become slightly more alcoholic than I was pre-2020.
I also found out that someone extremely close to me was very, very sick on Thanksgiving day of 2019.  Since then I've been very actively involved in their daily care. So though I've been MIA from my blog, I did have good reasons and I wasn't just hanging out eating bon bons and getting fat.  I don't eat bon bons and I got fat all on my own, without them.  :)
I will try to do better.  I've been itching to ditch Facebook for years.  Getting back on my blog and expressing myself here is just the push I needed to get rid of that ol' ball and chain on social media.  Just be warned, I'm not THAT interesting and you will likely get a lot of posts about real estate, camping, food and cats.  Til next time- which will hopefully not be two years from now.
